AGA and La Cornue range recall calls for gas-supply precautions and free inspection

A missing gas-test-port cap prompted a recall of specified AGA and La Cornue dual-fuel ranges. The September 10 notice offers free inspection and repair and distinguishes the affected gas burners from the electric ovens.

Owners of certain AGA and La Cornue dual-fuel ranges are being offered a free inspection and repair after a missing cap was identified as a possible gas-leak hazard. The September 10 U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announcement covers about 3,992 ranges in the United States, plus about 336 in Canada, manufactured by AGA Rangemaster.

The listed models are AEL361DF, AEL481DF, AMC36DF, AMC48DF, LAC9 and LAC1, with production dates from March 19, 2025, through July 24, 2026. Both natural-gas and propane configurations are included. CPSC reported no incidents or injuries. The concern is a missing cap at a gas test port, which can permit gas to escape.

Follow the remedy before restarting burners

The notice instructs affected owners to shut off the gas supply and avoid using the gas burners while arranging the certified inspection and repair. It separately permits use of the electric ovens under the recall instructions. That distinction should not be interpreted as permission to investigate or repair the gas assembly yourself.

Use the exact model and production information when contacting the recall service. A purchase date can help locate an invoice, but it is not a substitute for the product identifiers. If the range is built into cabinetry or difficult to access, ask the remedy provider how identification should be completed safely.

A kitchen remodeler who supplied an affected range should help the customer locate model records and the manufacturer’s recall contacts. The recall route matters because an unrelated appliance replacement estimate does not establish whether the existing range needs replacement. The announced remedy is inspection and repair.

Keep repair and remodeling decisions separate

For households already planning kitchen work, preserve the recall paperwork alongside appliance specifications. Ask who will arrange access, who is authorized to perform the remedy and how completion will be documented. Those are coordination questions, not a reason to expand the renovation before the defect has been evaluated.

The same separation helps plumbers and appliance installers communicate clearly. State which work belongs to the manufacturer remedy and which, if any, is a separately requested customer project. Do not promise that every color, production run or similarly named range is affected without checking the official identification information.

The practical next step is to compare the range with the linked notice and arrange the free remedy through its listed contacts. Save the completion record for future service or a home sale.
