Our aim is to help homeowners understand a company more clearly. A profile is a research resource, not a substitute for checking current credentials, speaking with references, or reviewing a project proposal.
Information we may consider
The available information and the nature of a company’s work shape the review. Relevant factors may include:
- Company history and years in operation
- Services, specialties, and examples of relevant experience
- Service area and the markets the company describes serving
- Public reputation and patterns in available customer feedback
- Applicable licensing information and professional credentials
- Public business information and company-submitted materials
- Supporting sources, dates, and explanations for specific claims
These are considerations, not a numerical scoring formula. We do not assign a scientific-looking score without a defensible method.
How to read source attribution
Company-provided information comes from the business or its materials. It is not automatically independently verified.
Source-checked information identifies the field checked, the relevant source, and, where available, the date of the check. A check of one field should not be read as verification of every detail on the page.
Editorial judgment is an interpretation of the available information. Where a company receives recognition, the profile should explain the rationale and relevant scope.
What a profile does not establish
Publishing a profile does not mean we have inspected the company’s work, interviewed every customer, audited its finances, performed a background check, or verified every statement. We only claim those activities if they were actually performed and documented.
Licensing rules differ by location and work type. License status, insurance, staff, service areas, and availability can change. Confirm current information with the company and the relevant authorities before committing to a project.
Recognition is being developed
Our recognition program is in development. We have not published a universal ranking formula or a nationwide list of winners. A future distinction should identify the company, year, relevant category or market, and editorial basis.
An application does not guarantee selection. Payment alone does not establish that a company is the best, and recognition is not government approval or a license.
Commercial relationships
Paid profiles, sponsored features, advertising, and paid placement should be labeled where they appear. A commercial relationship does not change the need for accurate claims or turn a promotional placement into an objective ranking. See our advertising disclosure.
Updates and corrections
Profiles include an updated date. That date reflects the page update and does not mean every source was rechecked on that date. Specific source checks should carry their own dates. Use our contact form to submit corrections with supporting information.
