The company at a glance
Company overview
Rankin Electric lists a Bakersfield office on 24th Street and offers residential and commercial electrical work. Its residential services include new construction wiring, remodeling and rewiring, circuits, outlets, lighting, ceiling fans and connections for appliances or car chargers. The homepage names Bakersfield and communities across Kern County, including Delano, Shafter and Wasco.
The official contact page and BBB record match Rankin Electric, 1030 24th Street and 661-325-8658. The company also describes troubleshooting and repair services for existing systems. That makes it useful to frame a consultation around the specific symptom or planned equipment, rather than assuming the homeowner needs a whole-house project.
Map the intended use before adding circuits
For a kitchen, laundry or garage change, prepare a list of the equipment being added and where it will be used. Ask the electrician which loads need dedicated circuits and whether the existing panel and service can support the plan. The written estimate should identify the wiring route and any work needed to reach finished spaces.
Lighting projects benefit from similar detail. Specify fixture locations, controls and whether existing products will be reused or supplied by the contractor. For troubleshooting, ask how diagnostic time is billed and when further repairs require approval. Discuss drywall repair, painting and cleanup separately so an electrical estimate does not leave the homeowner guessing about the condition of the room afterward.
Questions to ask
- Which new circuits or panel changes are necessary for the equipment I plan to use?
- How will wiring be routed, and who restores opened walls or ceilings?
- How are diagnostic time, repair authorization and fixture supply handled?
