American Electric

The company at a glance

Company overview

American Electric publishes electrical repairs, installations, inspections, upgrades and maintenance for residential, commercial and industrial customers in Hawaii. Its main office is listed at 799 Kahelu Avenue in Mililani, with phone 808-848-0751. The residential scope is explicit on the company's homepage even though other pages emphasize construction and larger technical projects.

BBB identifies American Electric Company, LLC at the same Mililani address and matches the official website and phone. Its record lists several island locations. This metropolitan collection uses the Oahu operation once, without treating those other offices as additional company selections or implying that every service team handles every type of job.

Confirm the residential service scope before the visit

For an existing home, begin by explaining the size and nature of the work. Ask which department handles residential diagnosis, repairs or upgrades and whether the visit includes a written assessment. Clarify the service-call charge, the decision point for approving repairs and who will communicate the findings.

If installation work is proposed, request a description of the equipment, affected circuits or areas, inspection responsibilities and final testing. Discuss access and the handling of any power interruption before the schedule is fixed. For a problem that occurs intermittently, provide a factual account of when it happens and retain any prior service records. American Electric advertises a broad range of capabilities, but the value of an individual proposal depends on matching the assigned team and scope to the household's actual request.

Questions to ask

• Which team handles this residential job and what does the first visit include?
• When will I receive the findings and approve the repair or installation price?
• What inspections, testing and completion records are included?
