Practical guides
Guides organize useful questions and comparison frameworks around a homeowner decision. We link to relevant primary sources, including professional organizations and official consumer or licensing resources. Advice about a particular jurisdiction is identified in context.
An editorial framework is not firsthand testing. Interviews, professional contributions, and project examples are identified only when they actually took place and permission to publish is established.
Company profiles
Profiles organize available information about a business: its background, services, specialties, stated service areas, and relevant credentials. The company overview explains specifics rather than assigning a numerical score.
Company information comes from the business, its website, or other company materials. Attribution does not make a company claim independently verified.
Source checks identify the particular information checked, the source used, and the date. For example, an official license-record check is separate from a company’s description of its experience. Checking one field does not verify every detail of a profile.
Customer reviews are not assumed to have been analyzed. If a profile links to an external review platform, the link alone does not represent review analysis by Home Review Board.
Reading the dates
An article or profile update date reflects changes to that page. It does not mean every source was rechecked. Dated source checks remain separate, and time-sensitive information such as license status or service availability should be confirmed with its source.
Editorial selection and commercial relationships
Publishing a profile is coverage, not an award or an assertion that a company is right for every project. We do not currently publish a list of Top Contractor selections. The recognition status page explains this separately.

Corrections
Send the page address, the detail at issue, and a supporting source through our contact form. Material corrections that change meaning should include a note explaining the change. Factual corrections do not require payment.
